Best memory and why?
Winning the Premier League title. It was secured the moment Mohamed Salah put Liverpool 4-1 up at Anfield against Tottenham and took a selfie while sat on the advertising boards in front of The Kop. You cannot really beat that, can you?
Worst footballing moment and why?
Salah’s jaw-dropping post-match interview where he claimed the club had thrown him under the bus. The Egyptian is Liverpool’s greatest player of the modern era and carried us to the title last season. To see it potentially ending in an uncomfortable way is pretty sad.
If I could drink a New Year’s brew with one member of our squad/management it would be…
Arne Slot.
and I’d ask them…
How much of a role he had in the transfers in summer 2025. Why did we change so much and buy players with such stylistic differences from a team that won the title? I would also ask him what has happened to Alexis Mac Allister.
The thing that’s infuriated me in 2025 is…
I find refereeing bizarrely inconsistent. I feel I understand the rules less and less given what I see in front of me every week. I think the powers that be have made refereeing harder, not easier, with VAR interference and subjective rule changes. Referees are humans and their job is harder than ever. Why wasn’t it made easier?
My gut tells me 2026 will bring…
A strong finish to the season as players return to fitness and Florian Wirtz continues his upward trajectory. We are not good enough to win the Champions League, but I think we could make the semis and then finish third behind Arsenal and Manchester City.
