No. 3 Georgia and No. 6 Ole Miss battled it out in the Sugar Bowl for a spot in the College Football Playoff semifinals. In the end, it was the Rebels who came out on top.

Ole Miss defeated Georgia, 39-34, behind a last-second field goal and safety to end the Bulldogs’ season.

The game turned dramatic when Mississippi was awarded a safety on the final kickoff due to Georgia’s return team attempting a lateral that struck the pylon.

Lucas Carneiro kicked a game-winning field goal with just six seconds left after Chambliss set up the winning drive with a 40-yard pass to De’Zhaun Stribling.

Georgia tied the game late in the fourth quarter with an 18-yard touchdown pass from Gunner Stockton to Zachariah Branch, followed by a field goal from Peyton Woodring to level the score at 34-34 with 55 seconds remaining.

The Rebels advance to the Fiesta Bowl to face No. 10 Miami on Jan. 8.
