The Colorado Buffaloes continue to add pieces through the transfer portal as they work to bolster the defense. The latest addition is a significant one, as Deion Sanders and his staff have landed Notre Dame transfer cornerback Cree Thomas, their first Power Four transfer addition.
Thomas appeared in just three games for the Fighting Irish this season, recording a single tackle against Syracuse. The 6’1, 187-pound true freshman cornerback will have four years of eligibility remaining and is aiming to compete for a Day 1 starting role in Boulder next season.
After high school, Thomas was a three-star recruit with 12 offers, including from Notre Dame and Oregon. With the Irish boasting one of the deepest cornerback rooms in the country, Thomas ultimately chose to seek immediate game action rather than remain buried on the depth chart, opting instead to play under Deion Sanders.

Thomas becomes the Buffs’ 17th transfer and third piece for the secondary, joining James Madison cornerback Justin Eaglin and New Mexico State safety Naeten Mitchell.
This is a strong pickup for the Buffaloes, as Sanders and Colorado continue to navigate the transfer portal effectively, adding value and talent across the roster.
