Ty Simpson makes decision on Alabama football future, NFL Draft

Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback Ty Simpson has made a decision on the NFL Draft.

Simpson announced via Instagram Wednesday that he would be declaring for the 2026 draft.

“Grateful for every single second. Blessed beyond measure to be able to chase my dreams. Time to roll. Roll Tide,” Simpson wrote in a social media post.

In his only season as Alabama‘s starting quarterback, Simpson threw for 3,567 yards with 28 touchdowns to five interceptions while starting all 15 games. He led Alabama to wins over each of its biggest rivals: Auburn, Tennessee and LSU.

Simpson was a five-star recruit in the class of 2022 from Westview High School in Martin, Tennessee, who waited his turn to start, backing up first Bryce Young and later Jalen Milroe. He threw for a season-high 382 yards and four touchdowns in Alabama’s 38-14 win over Wisconsin on Sept. 13 at Bryant-Denny Stadium.

The 2026 NFL Draft will be held April 23-25 in Pittsburgh.

Alabama finished 11-4 overall this past season and reached the quarterfinal round of the College Football Playoff. The Tide’s season ended in last Thursday’s 38-3 loss to No. 1 Indiana at the Rose Bowl.
