Colorado strengthens offensive line with SEC transfer tackle

Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes continue to stay ultra active in the transfer portal, landing yet another addition in this cycle. This time, it comes on the offensive line with the commitment of former Missouri Tigers lineman Jayven Richardson.

Richardson checks in at 6-foot-6 and 313 pounds and saw action on 197 snaps in 2025, including two starts. With his commitment, Colorado is now at 21 portal additions, and more help is expected to follow.

Richardson arrived at Missouri ahead of the 2024 season and appeared in six games that year. In 2025, his role expanded when he was named Missouri’s sixth man on the offensive line and primarily played left tackle. He appeared in 10 games for the Tigers and finished this season playing 184 total snaps.

Richardson brings SEC-level experience and a big, physical presence to Boulder and should compete for a starting role from day one. Colorado must take a significant step forward in protecting the quarterback and opening up running lanes in 2026, and this move is a solid step in that direction.

As a transfer prospect, Richardson is rated as a three-star and the No. 15 offensive tackle in the portal class according to 247Sports. It is a quality addition for Deion Sanders and his staff, with hopes that Richardson can emerge as a reliable starter for the Buffs in 2026.
