The Cleveland Browns‘ search for a new head coach continues. This time, they have turned to a rising AFC defensive coordinator for an interview request.
The Browns have tabbed Los Angeles Chargers’ defensive coordinator Jesse Minter for an interview. In his second season with the Chargers under head coach Jim Harbaugh, Minter is seen as a likely head coaching candidate somewhere this coaching carousel cycle. So, why shouldn’t the Browns get in the mix?
Before coming to the NFL, Minter was the defensive coordinator under Harbaugh at Michigan, coordinating a national championship-winning unit in 2023. He then followed Harbaugh to the NFL when he made the leap back up from the college level.
Minter joins a long list of candidates that already includes both of Cleveland’s current coordinators, Tommy Rees and Jim Schwartz, Seattle Seahawks‘ defensive coordinator Aden Durde, Cincinnati Bengals‘ offensive coordinator Dan Pitcher, and potentially some interest from the recently fired John Harbaugh.
The Chargers host a playoff game this weekend, so the earliest Minter could get in for an interview would be next week.
