With Dante Moore‘s decision of whether to go pro or return to Eugene for one more season still up in the air, the Oregon Ducks have been linked to several established veteran passers via the transfer portal. But none have come to fruition yet, as they likely hinge on Moore departing and the starting job coming open.
There hasn’t been any link between Oregon adding a young, talented passer who isn’t necessarily hell-bent on starting right away — until now, as the Ducks have been listed by On3 Sports as the initial school to watch for USC transfer quarterback Husan Longstreet. Each of Steve Wiltfong, Pete Nakos and Greg Biggins “are already hearing some buzz about” Oregon, and noted that “the Longstreet camp has had a keen eye on Eugene.”
The 6-foot, 200-pound passer was rated as a five-star in the 2025 class and ranked as the No. 4 quarterback and No. 32 player overall, per 247 Sports Composite.
Longstreet saw time in four games in 2025 as a true freshman with the Trojans, completing 13 of 15 passes for 103 yards and a touchdown while carrying the ball 11 times for 76 yards and two touchdowns. He particularly impressed in USC’s season-opening win over Missouri State, as he went nine-for-nine for 69 yards and a touchdown through the air while rushing eight times for 54 yards and two scores.
At the moment, Oregon is expected to have multiple reserve quarterbacks on the roster come 2026, headlined by Brock Thomas, Luke Moga and Akili Smith Jr. But none bring the talent that the former five-star Longstreet has, something that could certainly be enticing for head coach Dan Lanning and Co., especially if the interest goes both ways.
