We asked for your views on what the Manchester United DNA is and whether the fans need to see the club sticking to that idea.
Here are some of your comments:
Jason: They must stick to the idea. It worked then, and it will work now, if for no other reason than positive football wins games and hearts. The United mantra that it doesn’t matter how many you score because we’ll score more is crucial and the binding element of the DNA.
Marcus: The United DNA is known to all football fans worldwide. Entertaining, attacking, fast football. Don’t cheat. Respect the opponent and remember it’s only a game.
Phil: That is how the winning is achieved, and the history and tradition prove it. The DNA of Manchester United is clear to all. The Busby Babes, then Tommy Docherty and then Sir Alex. It’s moving away from that tradition under The Glazers and Woodward that has led to this hapless mess.
Ratheesh: Manchester United’s DNA is not just a particular formation or a style of play. Yes, the main philosophy of the managers was playing attacking football, but we still adapted to different game situations. There were many games in the Fergie era where we parked the bus and shut the shop. The Man Utd DNA is about players giving their 100%, and having a squad where hard work is rewarded and youth players are given opportunities. It is also about facing adversities and bouncing back from the same. Historically, this is what the club is about, and unfortunately, this is what we fans are missing – not the formation.
Chris: It’s called attacking football. They should have known Amorim doesn’t play it. The owners don’t understand it, and they’re going nowhere until they find a manager who does.
