Alison Ojeda recaps UT Invite first day

The first day of the UT Invite was held Friday at Goodfriend Tennis Center. Tennessee claimed eight wins on Friday.

“I’m really proud of the way our team competed today,” Tennessee head coach Alison Ojeda said. “We have an experienced roster who understands the importance of day-to-day training and competing, and that showed today. It was our first match of the season, and as a coach I feel like it’s mid-March.

“We came out with energy in doubles and executed well, and in singles we were prepared for every situation that came up on all six courts in singles. Tomorrow is another opportunity for us to perform at a high level and I’m looking forward to getting back on court.”

On Saturday for day No. 2 of the UT Invite, the Lady Vols will play Vanderbilt in doubles competition at 1 p.m. EST. Tennessee will also face Arizona State in singles competition after facing the Commodores.
