Warriors blow past Kings in second half on way to 137-103 win

The Golden State Warriors have won six of their last seven games within the confines of San Francisco’s Chase Center, with their most recent victory coming against the Milwaukee Bucks to kick off an eight-game homestand. With the Kings in town for game two of the homestand on Friday night, the Warriors picked up right where they left off against the Bucks, this time in dominant fashion.

Through the first half of basketball, the Warriors and Kings traded buckets, with the Warriors holding a four-point lead at halftime. Late in the third quarter, the Warriors made their move. With three minutes remaining in the third quarter, the game was tied at 84. Over the next three minutes, the Warriors put together a 13-0 run to close the quarter. De’Anthony Melton tallied nine of his 12 third-quarter points over that stretch.

In the fourth quarter, the Warriors continued to pile it on, outscoring the Kings 40-19 in the final 12 minutes. Brandin Podziemski notched 12 of his 14 points in the fourth quarter to help push the Warriors to a blowout win, 137-103. Podziemski finished with a game-high +28 in 22 minutes off the bench.

Steph Curry tallied a double-double with 27 points on 10-of-21 shooting from the field and six made 3-pointers to go along with a season-high 10 assists. The Warriors finished with a season-high 39 assists in Friday’s win over the Kings. The Warriors have now finished three straight games with 10 or fewer turnovers.

Jimmy Butler added 15 points, six assists and six rebounds. Along with Curry and Butler, Draymond Green, Quinten Post, Gary Payton II, Melton and Podziemski all finished with 11 or more points on Friday night.

With a win on Friday, the Warriors moved to 21-18 on the season. Golden State has won eight of its last 11, including three in a row at home. The Warriors will continue their homestand on Sunday with the Atlanta Hawks in the Bay Area.
