Federico Dimarco admitted there was a sense of frustration after Inter Milan were held to a 2-2 draw by Napoli at San Siro, but stressed that the point could still prove valuable in the context of the title race.
Speaking to Inter TV after the final whistle, via FCInterNews, the Nerazzurri wing-back underlined the importance of avoiding defeat against a direct rival.
Even if the hosts had hoped for more.
Dimarco explained that losing would have allowed Napoli to close the gap significantly, noting that “it was important not to lose. It would have been better to win, but we’ll take this point.”
The Italy international also reflected on his goal, which helped Inter stay level in a tightly contested match.
Dimarco admitted it was not an easy position from which to score, but said he was pleased to find the net, particularly against a goalkeeper who “fills the goal so much.”

He added that the team are continuing to follow the instructions of the coach.
Indeed, they must keep doing so as the season enters a demanding phase.
Looking ahead, Dimarco urged focus on the immediate challenge rather than the wider fixture congestion.
With domestic and cup commitments piling up, he insisted that Inter must take things one game at a time.
Therefore stressing that attention now turns fully to Wednesday’s trip to Lecce.
Indeed, a game that he described as “a very tough match.”
Inter remain firmly in the hunt at the top of the table.
However, Dimarco’s comments reflected a squad aware that fine margins could define the weeks ahead.
