Ohio State receiver Bryson Rodgers announces transfer decision

It is turning into a mass exodus for Ohio State football. There is a total of 28 Buckeyes in the transfer portal, with only a handful who have signed with other programs at this time. One of those players has announced he will be following his former position coach, Brian Hartline, to South Florida. Wide receiver Bryson Rodgers has committed to USF.

A Tampa native, Rodgers decided to head back home after three years with OSU. He was a four-star recruit coming out of Wiregrass Ranch High School in 2023, although he was rated as the No. 51 receiver according to 247Sports composite rankings. In 19 games with the Buckeyes, Rodgers collected 11 receptions for 125 yards and one touchdown.

This is the second time Rodgers hit the portal after entering his name in January of 2025. He withdrew his name shortly after that, after deciding to stay with Ohio State for another season. He’ll have two years of eligibility remaining when he joins Hartline and the Bulls.

It’s hard to blame a young man for wanting to head home after being buried on the depth chart and more talent coming in next year. It makes sense for him to follow the coach who recruited him with a chance to be WR1 with his new team.
