Notre Dame gets hot landing 4 transfers commits, two former 5-stars

It was a huge Monday morning for Notre Dame football transfer portal recruiting, as the Irish landed four commitments, two of them being former 5-stars as the verbal drought ended.

It all started with Colorado defensive back DJ McKinney, who had a bit of drama after it was announced this past weekend that he’d committed. It was taken back in under an hour, but this time it looks like it’s going to stick.

Then the big commitments came, as former Ohio State 5-star prospect Quincy Porter committed to the Irish. While he only played in a few games during his freshman season, at 6-foot, 4-inches and 210-pounds, he will fit the role that Malachi Fields left perfectly. Porter wanted to the a teams No. 1 receiver, and it looks like he’ll have a great opportunity to do that for Notre Dame.

The third was a reunion of sorts, as former Irish commit Keon Keeley finally will suit up in the Blue and Gold. He played his first three years at Alabama, and also was a previous 5-star coming out of high school. This seemed like destiny once Keeley entered the portal.

Jayden Sanders finished off the flurry, as the former Michigan cornerback committed to the Irish. He contributed this fall with 23-tackles and one pass-breakup. Sanders will have three seasons of eligibility remaining and gives a somewhat veteran presence to the group.

Notre Dame Nation can now breathe a collective sigh of relief, after being shut out for the first half of the transfer portal window. I don’t think anyone can complain now, as these four all fill big needs and could start another huge wave of transfers coming into the program.
