Rams WR Davante Adams has dominated the Bears in the past

As someone who spent eight of his 12 seasons in the NFC North for the Green Bay Packers, Davante Adams is very familiar with the Chicago Bears.

The Los Angeles Rams receiver has played the Bears 17 times in 178 games and won 14 of those matchups. He had the help of superstar quarterback Aaron Rodgers during most of those matchups, but Adams has feasted in almost all of his games against Chicago.

In those games, Adams caught 88 of 146 targets for 1,081 yards and 10 touchdowns. Those numbers are second-best against any opponent for Adams, behind only the Minnesota Vikings.

In eight games at Soldier Field, where the Rams will take on the Bears in the divisional round, Adams caught 38 passes on 62 targets for 489 yards and only two touchdowns. He last played the Bears in Soldier Field in 2023 when he was on the Las Vegas Raiders, where Adams caught just seven passes on 12 targets for 57 scoreless yards in a loss.

Adams isn’t the same receiver he was one when he and Rodgers were taking the Bears apart, but he’s still a top-flight pass-catcher in L.A. Despite missing three games, Adams finished with 60 receptions for 789 yards and an NFL-best 14 receiving touchdowns. He also caught five of 13 targets for 72 yards in the Rams’ wild-card win over the Carolina Panthers.

This is a very different Bears team than the ones Adams knew during his time with the Packers, though. This Chicago squad has been invigorated by head coach Ben Johnson and quarterback Caleb Williams, and they went 7-3 down the stretch to win the NFC North.

The defense is completely different under defensive coordinator Dennis Allen, too, although the secondary still ranks 22nd in yards allowed and 28th in passing touchdowns allowed. Packers quarterback Jordan Love put up 323 passing yards and four touchdowns despite losing, and receiver Romeo Doubs led all Green Bay pass-catchers with 124 yards and one touchdown.

Adams has been known to perform well against Chicago, but this matchup might not bear the same fruit as he’s used to — especially at the frigid Soldier Field.
