For the second time in his career, former Georgia and Penn State cornerback AJ Harris will be transferring. This time, it will be to one of the newest blue bloods in the country.
Harris announced his commitment to the Indiana Hoosiers through Instagram yesterday, with one year of eligibility left.
Harris had initially transferred from Georgia to play for the Nittany Lions. Perhaps his best year for the program came in his sophomore season, where he played all 16 games. He ended the year with 48 total tackles, four for loss, one interception, and five pass breakups, cementing his status as a third team All-Big Ten selection.
Unfortunately, his junior year was not a great follow up to that success, as he played in all of the Nittany Lions’ games except one , but only recorded 25 tackles and one pass breakup. In a year in which the Nittany Lions failed to meet expectations, Harris decided to depart from the program before the Pinstripe Bowl. He was the No. 3 corner in the class of 2023, and the No. 39 player in the nation.
Harris is perhaps the most high-profile transfer portal addition that the Hoosiers have had during Cignetti’s tenure. He will most likely be replacing a Hoosiers legend in D’angelo Ponds, as he evaluates his future ahead of the draft.
Harris is the first former Penn State player to commit to Indiana as well.
