If the day Deion Sanders and Colorado signed Jordan Seaton to their 2024 class was a historic day for the program, Monday, the day he announced he was entering the transfer portal, was the polar opposite.
Yes, Colorado football will go on without Seaton, and who knows, the Buffs might even be good without their star left tackle, but that is not the point. Seaton was supposed to be “one of the good ones,” like a Travis Hunter who stays with a program through the ups and downs and becomes part of the solution. That obviously won’t be the case as Seaton hits the college football open market, where he will garner interest from every top program.
You can’t fault Seaton for making this decision after the Buffaloes went 3-9 in 2025, and Seaton’s play, despite still being well above average, took a step back from his true freshman campaign. He needs a program that will help him take the next step in his development and set him up to be a first-round pick in the 2027 NFL draft.
Still, the loss hurts Buff Nation, who voted him the 28th recipient of the Buffalo Heart Award in November, recognizing the player who best exemplifies Colorado football. Buff fans let their feelings be heard after the news broke; some wanted to rant, while others wanted to look ahead.
Here are the best reactions from media members and Buff Nation following Jordan Seaton’s transfer decision.

Would this have kept Seaton in Boulder
Knew we should’ve retired Seaton’s jersey to keep him around… pic.twitter.com/Y5p9qgJWLX

Hopefully, most Buff fans feel this way
There is no doubt in my mind that this young man is headed for greatness. He’s incredibly kind, intelligent, competitive, and talented. He’s special. Wishing @JordanSeaton_ nothing but the absolute best. Will be pulling for him wherever he goes. https://t.co/7ftBgO6FQM

The timing is questionable, and not the best look
At least Omarion and other players hit the portal earlier. No one is mad at them for it. Seaton is foul for doing this so late. He burned a lot of bridges with this nasty move.

I sure hope so

A very logical and realistic take
Can’t blame him. To restore his value as first-round pick, he would be best served to move on. Not ideal for CU. It creates questions since he was a favorite of Coach Prime, and Seaton always talked highly of Deion. Maybe it is as simple as money. I get it. But it is also a huge… https://t.co/n4eifMIpZH

It is a new age of college football
In November, Jordan Seaton won the 28th Buffalo Heart Award, given to a player by fans. He’ll be the first winner of the award to finish his career at a different school. https://t.co/CZMn9trX6Z

Couldn’t agree more, a cornerstone is gone
I don’t blame Seat. He has turned his talent and work ethic into what is already a financially life-altering career. That’s a very real thing.
But as a fan, he’s the cornerstone. The kind of player you used to be able to watch become a man and fulfill his dreams at your school.

Props to the recruiting, they’ll have CU covered
CU folks hold your head up. If he didn’t want to be here then he didn’t. Good luck to him, we move on. Recruiting staff has been on a heater and I’m sure they weren’t blindsided.
They will be fine.

We’ll have to hope this is true
🤣 To be fair, I don’t think this is a big loss to Colorado, play style wise. Seaton struggled severely run blocking and I think Coach Marion will be able to scheme around not having a top tier pass protector. Bigger loss in morale, etc https://t.co/tDyf4uxbng

A $2 million bidding war
There will be a bidding war for Seaton. He’s legit https://t.co/mHJldLZ9hC

Props to Seat for what he did when he was here
Not going to lie, this one hurts @JordanSeaton_ . More than football. You mean a lot to this program. We know you’ll be great wherever you go. Thanks for choosing Colorado at such an important time. It mattered. 🦬 pic.twitter.com/gtikQRNTBo
