Where LSU women's basketball ranks in AP Poll after massive Texas win

LSU women’s basketball was rewarded for its upset win over Texas in the latest edition of the AP poll, released Monday. The Tigers climbed six spots to No. 6. It’s their second highest ranking of the season after they started the year at No. 5.

The Longhorns fell two spots to No. 4 after falling to LSU, their first loss of the season. UConn remained atop the poll while South Carolina and UCLA each climbed a spot to No. 2 and 3, respectively.

Five of the top 10 teams are from the SEC. The conference has nine teams in this week’s poll. Vanderbilt climbed two spots to No. 5 and Kentucky fell a spot to No. 7. Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Tennessee and Alabama round out the conference’s representation.

LSU has a 2-2 record in SEC play. It has the week off until Sunday when it travels to play the Sooners. Six players are currently averaging double figures for the Tigers, led by 14.5 and 14.2 points per game from Flau’Jae Johnson and MiLaysia Fulwiley, respectively.
