Two days after Xabi Alonso’s departure, Florentino Pérez already has a plan for his successor. The name José Mourinho has been mentioned.

Last Monday, just moments after Xabi Alonso’s dismissal, Alvaro Arbeloa stepped in to replace the Basque coach. However, Real Madrid does not intend to keep Arbeloa at the helm for the long term and has begun searching for a manager with a bigger reputation, such as Jürgen Klopp or Enzo Maresca. Furthermore, AS journalist Alfredo Relaño claims that Florentino Pérez has another plan in mind.

“His ultimate idea is to bring back Mourinho, who is currently stirring up trouble at Benfica in order to get himself dismissed. Mourinho was the only one with whom Florentino was truly satisfied. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if he ends up bringing him back,” he said on Cadena COPE radio.
