The Eagles held their annual season-ending press conferences, and, unlike the 2024-25 version, we’ll head into the offseason certain about the offensive coordinator and the offense’s overall direction following the firing of play-caller Kevin Patullo.
Here are 11 takeaways and notes from the presser.
Eagles are prepared to hand over full autonomy
For years, the running joke has centered around offensive coordinators calling the plays, but understanding it’s Sirianni’s scheme. Now, after reports surfaced that the Eagles are prepared to offer full autonomy of the offensive scheme to their next hire, Sirainni and Howie Roseman elaborated on the head coaching position being open to evolution.
Found this quote from Eagles GM Howie Roseman about Nick Sirianni interesting. After Sirianni was asked how much say the new OC would have on the offensive staff, Roseman followed Sirianni’s answer with his own.
With no context, you might mistake it for a quote about Jalen…

Howie Roseman talks about the continuity of winning
For Philadelphia, the evolution involves offensive player callers departing for new jobs or getting fired. The biggest questions center on the Birds finding an offensive coordinator who’d stay around for more than one year. Roseman is more focused on winning year in and year out over keeping the same play caller with minimal results.
Howie Roseman when asked how much whether an OC will be around for longer a year will factor into the search:
“As much as you’d like to have continuity … you want to win.”
If that comes at the cost of losing another OC, then that’s the priority.

Nick Sirianni could take the John Harbaugh
Sirianni has embraced the CEO-style head coach role, and with Vic Fangio already doing his own thing, the coach could be forced out of the offensive configuration as well. Roseman and Sirianni noted that the coach may assume a role overseeing and leading when necessary.
“Those decisions don’t have to be made for a long time.”
Sirianni says they aren’t there yet on whether he will be involved in the offense. Says how he wants to be the head football coach & all that comes with that. Howie Roseman doubles down on the great job Sirianni has done. pic.twitter.com/6qEvqmIB8g

Michael Clay could be moving on
An under-the-radar bit of information from Thursday was that special teams coordinator Michael Clay’s contract is up, and the Eagles are allowing him to look around. Clay actually interviewed in Tampa on Thursday, the team announced.
