LSU football signed offensive lineman Ja’Mard Jones out of the transfer portal, per the Advocate’s Wilson Alexander on Friday. He played his freshman season at Nicholls and will now try his hand at SEC football.
Jones played in six games as a freshman and allowed two pressures but didn’t surrender a sack. Nicholls’ roster page lists him as six-foot-four and 295 pounds. He hails from Metairie, LA, which is a suburban town outside of New Orleans. He played high school football at Archbishop Rummel.
When head coach Lane Kiffin arrived in Baton Rouge, rebuilding the offensive line was a top priority as every starter and key reserve entered the transfer portal. The Tigers retained Braelin Moore and Weston Davis but needed to build depth.

Although he played against a lower level of competition, Jones still earned playing time as a true freshman. He’ll compete for snaps alongside several other linemen coming out of the portal.
