Will Texans OT Trent Brown play vs. Patriots? Insider provides update

Will offensive tackle Trent Brown suit up for the Houston Texans against his former team in the New England Patriots come Sunday afternoon?

After testing during drills, Brown was listed as inactive for Sunday’s playoff game against the New England Patriots with a lingering ankle injury that limited him to one practice this week. The longtime lineman missed both Wednesday and Thursday’s practice before being listed as limited during the team’s walkthroughs on Friday.

Brown, who hasn’t been healthy for over a month, has also dealt with a knee injury that cost him the final two games of the regular season. In his place, second-year tackle Blake Fisher started in his place for Week 18 while Tytus Howard shifted over to right tackle for the matchup in Week 17’s win over the Los Angeles Chargers.

Brown returned to start and play the entire game in an AFC wild-card win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. When healthy, he’s the stable option at right tackle that fills out an offensive line that has been stable for nearly two months, starting with Aireontae Ersery at left tackle, Tyuts Howard at left guard, Jake Andrews at center and Ed Ingram at right guard.

Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. The game will be nationally televised on ESPN and ABC.
