As the Jacksonville Jaguars begin building towards Year 2 under Liam Coen, there has been another coaching shake-up in the AFC.
According to multiple reports, the Buffalo Bills have moved on from head coach Sean McDermott.
This decision comes after the Bills lost in the AFC divisional round to the Denver Broncos 33-30.
McDermott won 106 games as the Bills’ head coach over nine seasons and made eight playoff appearances. However, Buffalo was unable to get to the Super Bowl during that stretch.
The Bills’ firing of McDermott comes on the heels of Mike Tomlin stepping down as the Steelers’ head coach and Baltimore moving on from Jim Harbaugh.
Across the NFL, there have been 10 head coaching openings at one point.

Had the Jaguars not hired Coen during the previous hiring cycle, he certainly would have been one of the hottest names on the coaching market this time around.
History says that Baltimore and Pittsburgh will rebound quickly, and Buffalo is the most coveted job on the market with Josh Allen as the quarterback.
However, change is change, and while there has been a lot of it in Jacksonville throughout the years, one of the many current strengths of this Jaguars’ team is their stability under Coen, James Gladstone, and Tony Boselli.
In the Jaguars’ first season under that leadership trio, the Jaguars improved from four wins to 13 and won the AFC South.
During the Jaguars’ eight-game winning streak to end the season, the offense was one of the most productive in football, and the defense was one of the stingiest.
An excellent foundation has been established for the Jaguars, providing them with a jumping-off point heading into Year 2 under Coen.
