We’re not done with the transfer portal news just yet. The portal window closed last Friday, so there won’t be a lot of action of players entering it aside from the teams that were playing in the CFP National Championship game, but there are still players who entered their names that will continue to find landing spots.
One of those players decided to land in Columbus on Wednesday when Houston Christian punter Brady Young announced his commitment to Ohio State.
Originally from Perrysburg, Ohio, Young started his career with the Cincinnati Bearcats before transferring to FCS school, Houston Christian, ahead of his fifth season. In 2025, his first and only year as a starter, Young averaged 41.8 yards per kick in a whopping 69 tries. Now, he will be competing with OSU Aussie incumbent Joe McGuire for the starting spot on Ohio State’s roster for the 2026 season. For comparison’s sake only, MgGuire averaged 42.4 yards per punt on just 29 attempts.

We’ll continue to bring you any news of player/coaching movement during the offseason as it occurs, but for now, it looks like the Buckeyes will be looking to see if they can upgrade things a bit in the kicking game.
