Rich Paul believes the Los Angeles Lakers should show more appreciation to LeBron James amid reports suggesting team governor Jeanie Buss has grown frustrated with the four-time MVP’s influence on the organisation.

Rich Paul, CEO of Klutch Sports and longtime representative of LeBron James, responded to speculation about tension between the Lakers and their star player.

The comments followed an ESPN report claiming Jeanie Buss had become unhappy with James’ leadership presence and the reach of his off-court influence in Los Angeles.

Rich Paul calls for LeBron James appreciation amid Los Angeles Lakers speculation

Speaking on his Game Over podcast, Rich Paul urged that there should be greater recognition for everything LeBron James has done for the franchise.

He said some narratives have been exaggerated by those who “poke holes and manipulate relationships” when things are going well.

Paul explained that both he and James have enjoyed a positive relationship with the Lakers since arriving in Los Angeles eight years ago.

He said reports about internal issues between James and Jeanie Buss were misleading and did not reflect the truth about how the team operates.

Paul noted that disagreements happen within any professional environment but said the focus should remain on accomplishments.

“Where there’s smoke, there’s fire,” he said. “But there should be appreciation for a guy like LeBron.”

He later described the speculation as “overblown” and called for unity within the organisation as the Lakers continue their playoff pursuit.

Rich Paul rejects Jeanie Buss report and calls it media ‘propaganda’

Rich Paul dismissed the ESPN report as “propaganda” designed to create friction inside the Lakers organisation.

The team’s leadership has always been supportive, adding that he and James have “been treated great” since joining the franchise.

The ESPN article alleged that Jeanie Buss once considered not extending LeBron James’ contract and even explored a potential trade to the Clippers following the 2021–22 season.

Buss reportedly felt James had not shown enough gratitude when the Lakers selected his son, Bronny James, in the 2024 NBA Draft.

Paul dismissed those claims, saying the working relationship between LeBron James, Klutch Sports, and the Lakers remains strong. “We’ve been treated great,” he said. “We won a championship, and we’ve built something special here.”

Jeanie Buss has since denied the ESPN report and publicly reaffirmed her support for LeBron James.
