Woods’ comments suggest another change could be on the horizon as the league continues to look for ways to improve.

TGL have already introduced more creative hole designs and are expected to add a new team, Motor City Golf Club from Detroit, ahead of the 2027 season.

Speaking about possible changes, Woods told CBS: “Yeah, there has been talk about that. I think we are open to anything.”

TGL’s format currently has just one league and championship title, so it’s a straightforward competition.

The series’ structure is reminiscent of what you might find in Formula 1 or UFC, with everyone vying for the same prize over a single season.

Woods hints at another team joining the TGL lineup

Tiger Woods spoke following Jupiter Links’ 8-4 loss to Los Angeles Golf Club, and hinted that an eighth team could be in the works.

The league currently has six teams, with Motor City set to join as the seventh next season.

Woods explained: “I know we’re expanding next year and going to Detroit and maybe another city, so the rosters are going to get bigger. It’s just going to be challenging.”

It wouldn’t be a shock if TGL turned its attention towards either Texas or Las Vegas – two big markets that haven’t been brought into the league yet.

The challenge with adding new teams is getting enough players involved. TGL would need more players on board if two new teams were created.

Woods touched on that challenge, noting: “It’s a tricky thing because if we’re getting guys to play on a Monday, Tuesday, and they’re on the West Coast right now, it’s tough.”

Tiger Woods has given his thoughts on TGL’s move to introduce new hole designs for the current season.

Last year, the league stuck with more traditional layouts, but 2026 has brought a shift towards some more creative setups.

Woods explained: “Well, that’s something that the fans wanted to see, something different than last year.”

“When we first introduced this last year, it was more traditional golf holes, something they’re used to seeing.

“Once we created this, the fans said, ‘Hey, we’d like to have you hit certain shots. We’d like you to be more creative on the design aspect.’

“So we’ve done that. I think we’ve been reactive in a good way to give the fans what they want.”
