This week, we ran a Robert Saleh approval poll. An overwhelming 87% of you said that you are happy with the Saleh hire.
87% is a strong number. Saleh was a guy that I wanted from the minute it was announced that Brian Callahan was fired. His first stint as a head coach with the New York Jets was a disaster, but I’m of the belief that it had more to do with the situation surrounding the Jets than Saleh himself. Time will tell if that was the case.
The big thing that is going to make or break this hire is who Saleh can bring in as offensive coordinator. All reports suggest that it will be Brian Daboll if he doesn’t land a head coaching job. If he does, things might get interesting. Does Matt Nagy enter the conversation at that point? We have seen an arranged marriage here before when Mike Vrabel hired Matt LaFleur as his OC after missing on his first couple of choices. That one worked out pretty well.
