MADISON – The Wisconsin men’s hockey team’s search for answers continues.
The Badgers allowed three third-period goals to Penn State on Saturday, Jan. 24 and suffered their fourth straight loss, 3-1, at the Kohl Center.
Nittany Lions junior Reese Laubach scored the game-winner with 6 minutes 52 seconds to play and Gavin McKenna added an empty-netter during the final minute.
Senior Christian Fitzgerald’s short-handed goal at the 13:10 mark of the first period was Wisconsin’s only score.
The night was marred by several missed opportunities by the Badgers that would have extended that advantage, and it ended up costing them. Penn State goaltender Kevin Reidler finished with 40 saves.
Wisconsin (15-7-2, 8-6 Big Ten, 22 points) travels to Minnesota next Friday and Saturday. Penn State (18-6, 10-4, 31 points) moved into a first-place tie in the conference with Michigan, which is idle this week
