'I'm 125 percent': Texas A&M pitcher primed for 2026 return

Health will be a key factor in the Texas A&M Aggies’ success this season, as last year’s campaign was derailed early by several significant injuries that forced the coaching staff to shuffle the lineup throughout the spring. One of the biggest losses was a key arm in the rotation whose 2025 season ended before it ever began.

Prior to the 2025 season, left‑hander Shane Sdao underwent surgery to repair a torn ligament, sidelining him for the entire year. It was a major blow to the pitching staff, as Sdao possessed the versatility to start games or serve as a high‑leverage relief option. In 2024, he flashed all the traits of a future standout SEC pitcher, finishing with a 5–1 record, a 2.96 ERA, and 55 strikeouts.

In an interview with TexAgs insider Ryan Brauninger, Sdao went into detail about his return to the mound, as his injury issues have changed his perspective on the game and the importance of a balanced lifestyle that every athlete at the collegiate level deals with not just to avoid losing focus on the task at hand, but becoming the best version of who they can be.

Sitting out was difficult, especially as the Aggies endured stretches where Sdao’s dynamic presence on the mound could have steadied the team. But with the 2026 season now just around the corner, Sdao is fully healthy and poised to make a meaningful impact on a staff that needs him back in the mix.

Texas A&M will open the 2026 campaign with a three-game home series against Tennessee Tech beginning February 13 at Blue Bell Park in Bryan–College Station.
