Klahowya’s bowling team once again looks like a contender for postseason hardware as the winter season on the lanes draws to a close.
The Eagles, who finished 14-1 during the regular season and won the Olympic League championship Jan. 23 at All Star Lanes in Silverdale, lead Kitsap’s contingent of bowlers participating in the West Central District championships on Saturday, Jan. 31 at Bowlero in Lakewood. That’s the site for the state championships as well — and the Eagles expect to be there after placing third in 2025.
“This might be our best team we have ever had,” Klahowya assistant coach Brian Roadruck said, “definitely the deepest team.”
At the Olympic League championships, Klahowya cruised to first place with a total pin-count of 3,219 after three regular games (898, 869, 804) and four Baker games (116, 184, 178, 170). Olympic finished second with 2,842 pins and Bremerton finished third with 2,728 pins to qualify for districts along with the Eagles.
Individually, Klahowya senior Nevaeh Glance won the league title with a three-game score of 629. Glance, who placed seventh at state last year, rolled games of 203, 216 and 210. Olympic senior Dahli Pearson finished second at 596. Rounding out the top 10 were Port Angeles’ Zoey Van Gordon (527), Bremerton’s Illeah Tang (520), Klahowya’s Allie Corn (512), Bremerton’s Samantha Stevens (511), North Mason’s Cady Butler (496), Klahowya’s Tatum Robbins (485), North Mason’s Spencer Kenyon (465) and Klahowya’s Claire Baker (463).
In last week’s Puget Sound League 3A championships, Central Kitsap finished sixth to grab a district berth. Sophomore Kate Ecijan led the Cougars in ninth place with a score of 470. South Kitsap did not qualify for the district competition as a team at last week’s South Puget Sound League 4A tournament, but four Wolves moved forward as individuals. Lilly Finke took second, Maya Ezell fourth, Maddie Furlong sixth and Kaylynn Nelson ninth.
