Former Texas A&M hitting coach hired by Cincinnati Reds

Texas A&M baseball enters the 2026 season with no shortage of uncertainty, and one of the biggest surprises came just weeks before Opening Day. The resignation of hitting coach and recruiting coordinator Caleb Longley after only one year in Aggieland.

It didn’t take long for Longley to land on his feet. As first reported by D1Baseball’s Kendall Rogers, Longley is headed to the Cincinnati Reds organization as a hitting instructor. The move follows a dispute between Longley and the university regarding his private business, MARV Training, which ultimately led to his departure.

On the first day of practice, head coach Michael Earley addressed the situation, expressing appreciation for Longley’s work and emphasizing that their personal relationship remains strong.

Earley also reiterated that the program’s offensive structure had already shifted this offseason, with him taking on a larger role in the hitting operation. New assistant coach Cliff Pennington will handle infield and baserunning duties, allowing Earley to remain fully involved in the cage.

The Aggies now move forward with a restructured staff and a clear plan, even as the timing of Longley’s exit adds another layer of intrigue to a season already filled with unknowns.

You can see the report below.

Texas A&M will open the 2026 campaign with a three-game home series against Tennessee Tech beginning Feb. 13 at Blue Bell Park in Bryan–College Station.
