After Savion Hiter, Michigan eyes 2027 four-star RB Tyson Robinson

Michigan football got the No. 1 overall running back in the 2026 class in Mineral (Va.) Louisa County five-star tailback Savion Hiter. And, even with a new coaching staff in Ann Arbor, it doesn’t appear that the Wolverines are slowing down.

Kyle Whittingham did retain Hiter’s primary recruiter, Tony Alford, on the staff, and Alford appears to still be operating at a high level on the recruiting trail. According to Rivals’ Chad Simmons, the Wolverines are one of five teams set to get an official visit from 2027 Jackson (Miss.) Brandon four-star running back Tyson Robinson, the No. 3 tailback in the class.

According to Simmons, Robinson will visit Ann Arbor on June 11. (subscription required)

“I’ll be at Miami on May 28, then Mississippi State on June 5,” Robinson told Rivals. “After that, I’ll go to Michigan on June 11 and Tennessee on June 19. I’m still working to lock in a date with Arizona State.”

Michigan hasn’t exactly recruited the state of Mississippi successfully, minus Jeremy LeSueur and recent signee Kaden Catchings coming up north. But, with a new era of college football and a staff committed to excellence, especially in the run game, it wouldn’t surprise if the Wolverines could make a move. Of course, Miami (the national runner-up) looms large, and Tennessee is always a factor. The in-state Mississippi State push could also cause some turbulence in the race for Robinson’s signature.
