Alabama shortstop named to Golden Spikes Award preseason watch list

Star Alabama shortstop Justin Lebron has officially been named to the 2026 Golden Spikes Award preseason watch list, which was unveiled by USA Baseball on Friday. Lebron was one of 55 total players named to the preseason watch list.

A returning starter, Lebron will more than likely play a crucial role in the Tide’s lineup throughout the 2026 season. The talented shortstop was nothing short of elite in 2025, as Lebron was credited with 18 home runs while batting an impressive .316 on the year. Lebron recorded 72 RBI in 2025 as well, as the star shortstop will look to pick up right where he left off.

Lebron started all 59 games for the Tide last season. The shortstop was named as a Golden Spikes Award semifinalist during his sophomore campaign, as Lebron was widely regarded as one of the top shortstops in all of college baseball in 2025.

Lebron and the Tide will begin the season on Feb. 13 against Washington State, as Alabama will look to start the 2026 campaign with a series win over the Cougars.
