Iowa women’s basketball celebrates former star’s wedding shower

While Super Bowl LX dominated the national news landscape on Sunday, Iowa women’s basketball head coach Jan Jensen spent her Saturday celebrating the wedding shower for former Hawkeye legend and Las Vegas Aces’ center/forward Megan Gustafson.

Gustafson, who secured her first WNBA title in 2025 through her contributions to the Aces’ championship run, got engaged to David DiLeo in July, while the former Hawkeye was enjoying her off time during the league’s All-Star break.

With Iowa enjoying a six-day break in its schedule, Jensen was able to attend Gustafson’s wedding shower on Saturday, where she playfully brought a life-sized cutout of the bride-to-be from when Gustafson was part of the program from 2015-19.

Gustafson is one of three former Iowa women’s basketball players to have their number retired and hung in the rafters of Carver-Hawkeye Arena. Gustafson’s No. 10 is hung alongside Michelle Edwards’ No. 30 and Caitlin Clark’s No. 22.

While in the Iowa City area this past week, Gustafson actually stopped in on Iowa’s practice to give a few pointers and tips to the Hawkeyes.

As for her WNBA future, the 6-foot-4 big is a pending free agent this offseason. With the WNBA still without a new collective bargaining agreement with the WNBPA, where Gustafson will play in 2026 remains uncertain.

Jensen and Iowa women’s basketball (18-5, 9-3 Big Ten), their next matchup will be on Wednesday, Feb. 11, when Washington (18-6, 8-5 Big Ten) visits Carver-Hawkeye Arena. Tipoff for that game is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. CT and will be streamed exclusively on BTN+.
