Outlets love to have fun with “way too early” predictions. Add On3 Sports to the mix — the outlet has the Notre Dame Fighting Irish winning the national championship at the end of next season.
On3 predicts the Irish will start their postseason in the Fiesta Bowl as the No. 1 seed against No. 8 Oregon. From there, the Fighting Irish will have to face this year’s antagonist, the Miami (FL) Hurricanes, in the Orange Bowl. Despite this game being played at Miami’s home stadium, On3 thinks Notre Dame will win and go on to face Georgia in the national championship game in Las Vegas — with Notre Dame beating the Bulldogs.
We can’t say, obviously, if this will be correct. College football is nothing if not unpredictable. Notre Dame fans know this too well, in ways negative and positive. No one saw Northern Illinois beating Notre Dame in South Bend in 2024 and very few folks saw Notre Dame being snubbed from this year’s CFP after Alabama lost a third game. On the other hand, I am not sure how many observers of the sport saw the Irish making it all the way to the natty in 2024-2025.
Hoping and dreaming is fun, though. Let’s hope On3 is correct.
