Mid-February Notre Dame football recruiting update

While it has been a few months since Notre Dame football landed a 2027 commit, it has still started off very well with the current seven verbals.

The Irish aren’t letting a little commitment drought get in their way, as they’ve seen multiple prospects setting visits up to see South Bend this spring. Many of them have a long-standing relationship with the coaching staff, but as you’ll see below, some are just starting theirs.

Notre Dame has been active with offers along with positive trends with many of its top targets. Find out below an update on the latest regarding Irish football recruiting.

(Note: All recruiting rankings are according to the 247Sports Composite.)

Offer out to 2027 linebackers Jalaythan Mayfield

Mayfield is one of the best in the country, ranking as the No. 165 overall prospect. He stands 6-foot, 1-inch and is 215-pounds, as the North Carolina native has already released his top-5 schools. Notre Dame wasn’t included, but that was prior to the offer. We’ll see if anything changes with Mayfield’s top schools.

Notre Dame trending for 2027 defensive lineman David Folorunsho

Notre Dame offered the 6-foot, 4-inch and 280-pound defensive lineman in February, and it looks like it’s going well according to Mike Singer. He believes that the Irish will land Folorunsho (subscription required), who is the No. 604 overall player in his class.

2027 safety John Gay III gets a Notre Dame offer

While he’s a bit smaller than most safeties that Notre Dame recruits at 6-foot, 1-inch and 185-pounds, Gay is a late riser. He’s not currently ranked, but has a solid offer list that includes Texas A&M, Pittsburgh and Minnesota. The Irish offer is his best one to date, and Gay could see his recruitment blow up now.

Notre Dame offers 2029 athlete Captain Rolle

Sure, this seems like a very early offer but Rolle already held ones from Ohio State, Florida, Tennessee and others. He’s already 6-foot, 3-inches and 160-pounds and right now it’s hard to say what position he’ll end up at. Regardless of that, Notre Dame sees the Floridian as one of the best players in his class.
