No one waiting around: Joe Mazzulla on Jayson Tatum return to Boston Celtics

At times, it can feel like a lot of the Boston Celtics future is up in the air because of the unknown status of Jayson Tatum with the team. The St. Louis native is expected to return to action soon, but despite what some might want to believe, we do not yet know when Tatum will actually be ready to go.

That assessment can only come from the Duke alum and the medical team monitoring his progress as Tatum continues his long rehab process, which Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla emphasized in a recent interview with the hosts of the 98.5 The Sports Hub “Zolak and Bertrand” show when asked if the Celtics were “waiting around” for the Boston star to decide when he will make his return.

“No, no one’s waiting around,” said the Celtics coach. This is the natural progression of the process of what you have to go through when you go through something like that and your organization – so no one’s waiting around.

“There’s a process to it,” he added. “There’s an approach to it. And you just chip away at the steps that you have to take.”

“There’s full support from everyone. There’s a full understanding of the progression of the workouts, the weight room, training, the training room – all that stuff that goes into it. And then you just chip away at it. So, no – no one’s waiting around.”
