The Denver Broncos have found a new wide receivers coach.
After firing Keary Colbert last month, Denver is now expected to hire Ronald Curry as his replacement, according to a report from Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports. Curry, 46, previously interviewed for the Broncos’ offensive coordinator job, but the Broncos ended up promoting ex-quarterbacks coach Davis Webb for that role.
Curry played wide receiver in the NFL from 2002-2009, spending all but the final summer of his career with the Oakland Raiders. After hanging up his cleats, Curry transitioned to coaching. He coached under Sean Payton with the New Orleans Saints from 2016-2021, working with wide receivers and quarterbacks. Curry spent the last two years as a quarterbacks coach with the Buffalo Bills before reuniting with Payton in Denver.
Before hiring Curry to coach WRs, the Broncos also interviewed offensive quality control coach Favian Upshaw for the role, according to the Denver Post‘s Parker Garbriel. Upshaw, a former quarterback, is well-regarded by the club, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see him land some kind of promotion this offseason.
Another name to watch is ex-Detroit Lions offensive coordinator John Morton, who coached under Payton from 2023-2024 and returned to the Broncos as a consultant during the 2025 playoffs.

Payton announced his reshuffled 2025 coaching staff in March last year, so we might still be a few weeks from the 2026 staff being finalized.
