The Notre Dame Fighting Irish host the Duke Blue Devils on Tuesday night hoping to get a marquee win in the Micah Shrewsberry era.
Notre Dame (12-15, 3-11 ACC) is coming off a 73-68 road loss at Pittsburgh in which the Irish hoisted a season-high 38 3-point attempts but made only 24 percent. Cole Certa led Notre Dame with 16 points, while Logan Imes and Ryder Frost added 12 apiece as the Irish rallied late but could not erase a double-digit deficit.
The top-ranked Blue Devils enter at 25-2 overall and 13-1 in the ACC after a marquee 68-63 neutral-site win over top-ranked Michigan, a game in which Cameron Boozer scored 18 points and hit a dagger 3-pointer in the final two minutes. Isaiah Evans added 14 points, while Caleb Foster and Patrick Ngongba II combined for 23 as Duke controlled the glass 41-28 and held Michigan to 6-of-25 shooting from beyond the arc.
Boozer is considered by many a potential top pick in the upcoming NBA draft this summer. He’s currently having a stellar freshman season in Durham averaging over 22 points, 10 rebounds, and 4 assists while shooting 58% from the field.
Oddsmakers at Covers.com list Notre Dame as a heavy underdog, with the Irish getting 17.5 points and the total around 140.
