G League: Chris Youngblood drops career high in OKC Blue victory

Chris Youngblood registered his second 30-point performance of the season in the G League on Tuesday, leading the OKC Blue to a win over the Austin Spurs.

Youngblood finished with a career-high 35 points, eight rebounds, five assists and two steals in the 109-100 victory at the Paycom Center. He shot 9-of-14 from the field, including three 3-pointers, and was a plus-13 in 40 minutes, 41 seconds of action.

The 6-foot-4 guard tallied 14 points in the first quarter alone to help the Blue jump out to a 37-16 lead. He stayed in attack mode throughout his time on the court, getting downhill to the free-throw line, while also mixing in some mid-range shots and 3s.

Youngblood is averaging 20.8 points, 5.9 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.2 steals while shooting 43.7% from the field in 16 appearances with the Blue. His previous career high was set on Dec. 27 with 34 points and eight rebounds in a win over the South Bay Lakers.

The 24-year-old began the season on a two-way contract with the Oklahoma City Thunder after going undrafted out of Alabama. He was waived on Feb. 6 after exhausting his 50-game active service limit and joined the Blue full-time on Feb. 9.

Youngblood has had a productive year with the Blue and further showcased his overall ability and skill set on Tuesday. With one month left in the G League schedule, Youngblood will look to finish out the year on a high note and build positive momentum heading into next season.
