Team USA women’s hockey has been in an uncomfortable position since winning a 2026 Winter Olympics gold medal recently, but they got their moment back during a new ‘Saturday Night Live’ appearance.
Despite the on-ice glory that Hilary Knight and Co. encountered at the Milan Cortina Games, the American women have had to answer for president Donald Trump’s wild joke.
After the U.S. men beat Canada in the gold medal game recently, Trump called up Jack Hughes, Connor Hellebuyck and the rest of the team to celebrate before making an odd remark about feeling the need to invite the Team USA women’s hockey to the White House as well.

this moment in Connor Storrie’s SNL monologue was so sweet:
Connor: “My show speaks to people who are not always represented in hockey, so this is really great to actually hockey legends tonight.”

However, Knight and Megan Keller made an appearance on ‘SNL’ alongside NHL stars Jack Hughes and Quinn Hughes. The cameo gave the American women their chance to clap back at Trump for his viral comment though.
“It was gonna be just us, but we thought we’d invite the guys, too.,” Knight joked after stepping onto the ‘SNL’ set.
Jack Hughes then chimed in with a uniting message for USA hockey fans following his Olympic glory in the men’s gold medal game. The overtime hero against Canada has made many recent rounds following his winning goal.
“These gold medals aren’t just for us,” Hughes said. “They’re for all hockey fans … yours too.”

The banter continued throughout the show’s opening monologue, which was hosted by ‘Heated Rivalry’ star Connor Storrie.
Both the men’s and women’s American players chimed in about the fact that the U.S. men won their first gold medal since 1980 in Lake Placid. Meanwhile, the American women’s team recaptured their title after losing to Canada in the 2022 gold medal game.
