The Nebraska Cornhuskers have signed head basketball coach Fred Hoiberg to a contract extension. The new contract runs through the 2031-32 season.
The extension comes as Nebraska is coming off one of the most successful seasons in school history.ย Nebraska clinched the No.2 seed in the Big Ten tournament with a 26-5 record. It’s the first time in school history that the Huskers have 20+ games in three straight seasons.
Starting April 1, 2026, Hoiberg will earn a base salary of $5,000,000 and receive a $100,000 increase each year through the contract’s end date. Terms of the contract also show that he will receive a $500,000 bonus in July 2026 and March 2029, and now holds a buyout of $8 million through 2027.
Hoiberg’s career record with Nebraska is 110-113. He has accumulated 86 wins over the last three years with an NCAA tournament appearance in the 2023-24 season.

No-brainer
This extension is an absolute no-brainer for Nebraska.
Fred Hoiberg, in my book, should be the national coach of the year this season for all the history this Huskers team has made. https://t.co/zu4Y7ZoN5J
