European Leaders Call for Cutting Spain Out of Open Borders Zone After Moroccan Invasion

CEUTA, SPAIN - JULY 30: Several people are crossing the border on 30 July 2026 in Ceuta, Spain. Hundreds of people of Maghrebi origin have crossed into Ceuta from Morocco this morning, either by swimming or via the breakwater, and a crowd is waiting on the other side of the border to enter the autonomous city in the same way. Over the past week, more than 2,000 migrants have already done so. (Photo By Europa Press via Getty Images)
Several European leaders made open calls on Thursday and Friday for their countries to expel Spain from of the EU’s Schengen open-borders area in response to the dramatic illegal migrant wave storming the Spanish enclave of Ceuta.
