On Monday’s broadcast of the Fox News Channel’s “Jesse Watters Primetime,” Democratic U.S. Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed said that he is “not going to defend the Green New Deal” and responded to his prior support of the deal by saying that he supports lowering energy costs and creating jobs. Host Jesse Watters asked, [relevant exchange begins around 2:45] “Green New Deal, you backed that up. Do you drive an electric car?” El-Sayed answered, “I drive a plug-in hybrid made right in the United States. The bigger question about cars, though, is why the president just started a trade war — or escalated a trade war with Canada, that’s about to make all of our cars, especially the internal combustion engine cars, so much more expensive.” Watters then cut in to say, “You want to get rid of the internal combustion engine.” El-Sayed responded, “No, I don’t.
