Hi, I’m Kiera Butler, a national correspondent at Mother Jones Magazine reporting on extremism.
Lately, I’ve been writing about the influence of far-right extremism inside the Trump administration and the growing movement of “TheoBros,” the younger, more hardline wing of Christian nationalists. Many of these men want to end the 19th Amendment, restore public flogging, and replace the Constitution with the 10 Commandments.
The leader of the TheoBros is Doug Wilson, a self-proclaimed Christian nationalist who leads a network of churches that counts Pete Hegseth among its members. In May, I went to Wilson’s house in Moscow, Idaho, and interviewed him over brunch.
Proof it’s me: https://bsky.app/profile/kieraevebutler.bsky.social/post/3mvama3l46c2h
