I’m Catherine Rampell, economics editor at The Bulwark and an anchor/analyst at MS NOW. Before joining The Bulwark, I spent more than a decade as an opinion columnist at The Washington Post and previously worked as an economics reporter and editor at The New York Times.

My work focuses on the intersection of economics, politics, and public policy, which means I spend a lot of time digging into inflation, tariffs, housing, jobs, immigration, taxes, government spending, corruption, and whatever politicians are claiming about the economy on any given day.

At The Bulwark, I write Receipts, a weekly newsletter devoted to looking beyond the headlines and seeing what the data actually says. We also just launched Receipts as a new podcast, where I’m following the money, interrogating conventional wisdom, and digging into the economic and political stories that actually affect people’s lives.
