Former Georgia Bulldog scores first career NFL touchdown

Former Georgia Bulldog tight end John FitzPatrick had a lot to celebrate on Sunday. In the Green Bay Packers‘ loss, FitzPatrick caught his first career NFL touchdown pass against the Cleveland Browns.

On a 3rd-and-goal opportunity, the Packers wanted to go up by double digits against the Browns. They only had a 3-0 lead. On a play action bootleg, Jordan Love pumped to the right side, indicating his first read wasn’t open, but he found FitzPatrick in the middle of the end zone, and FitzPatrick secured it with two hands to make it 10-0.

Those were the final points of the day for the Packers, and the Browns ended up coming back and winning 13-10 on a walk-off field goal.

For FitzPatrick, it’s time to celebrate. He had just three receptions for 16 yards at that point, but against the Browns, he had two receptions for 12 yards and his first NFL touchdown.

It reflects on his time at Georgia. While he was behind Brock Bowers and Darnell Washington for most of his Georgia career, he was used for more of a blocking tight end. He had 17 receptions for 200 yards and one touchdown as well. FitzPatrick is surely hoping to score more touchdowns in the NFL. The Packers already see major contributions from former Georgia players anyway, so the more the merrier.
