Revisiting Micah's bold predictions for Caleb Williams against former head coach

With Caleb Williams facing his former head coach who highly contributed to his poor rookie season, I anticipated Caleb Williams having a big day. Let’s see if my predictions for Caleb Williams’ performance aligned with the game Caleb had Sunday afternoon for the Chicago Bears against the Dallas Cowboys:

Caleb Williams eclipses 300 yards passing

“Last week we saw Russell Wilson throw for 450 yards against this Cowboys defense. I think Caleb Williams at least gets 300 yards. The Bears have multiple playmakers that can expose this defense and create big plays. The Cowboys have a nonexistent pass rush just like the Bears, so Caleb will have enough time to accurately distribute the ball. Last season Caleb was no stranger to throwing for 300 yards. This matchup this week will provide Caleb with potentially the best performance of his career”.

Caleb Williams was just shy of 300 yards passing. Williams finished with 298 yards passing, but watching this game and not looking at the box score, you could not convince me that he did not throw for 300 yards passing. There were so many big plays by this Bear offense.

Caleb Williams rushes for 50 yards

“The Bears offense is at it’s best when Caleb is making plays with his legs. Against his former coach, Caleb Williams will pull all of his tricks out of the bag. If the Bears are going to have a good game on the ground, Caleb Williams will need to be involved, and he will need to hurt the Cowboys’ defense when the opportunity arises”.

Caleb Williams did not come close to this prediction, but I will take the day he had as a passer instead of solid rushing production every time.

Caleb Williams throws for 3 touchdowns

“I think this game will be a huge opportunity for Caleb Williams to have a career game all across the board. Caleb seems to not have been very fond of Matt Eberflus. What better way to show up Eberflus than to put up 300 passing yards and 3 passing touchdowns. In the first two games guys have been open, there has been great opportunity to get in the endzone. Caleb has just missed the big shots more than he has made them. If Caleb has the mindset I think he has he hit more than he will miss in this game. I want to see Caleb in sync like he was last year against Jacksonville in London. He had 4 passing touchdowns that game and 226 yards passing. To match this prolific Dallas Cowboys offense, Caleb will have to be every bit of special”.

I was on the money with this prediction. Caleb did hit more passes than he missed, and he had that “in sync” performance I was hoping for. Caleb rose to the occasion and outdid my prediction by one touchdown.

Caleb Williams connects with 7 different receiving targets

“Ben Johnson will be scheming the Bears playmakers open all game long. This game will be a good opportunity for everybody will get involved. Last week Russell Wilson managed to hit 7 different targets and this Bears offense has better weapons. I would love to see the rookies get involved in this game a little bit, with how poor this secondary is they could make an impact in a small roles”.

Caleb Williams outdid another one of my predictions, throwing to 8 different targets in this game. The 4 passing touchdowns he threw were to a different target. Caleb Williams was not the only one in sync; Ben Johnson had a great day as a play-caller Sunday. Every play it seemed he had the perfect play call.

Caleb Williams gets his revenge vs Matt Eberflus

“A tough pill to swallow for this Bears team and Bears fans would be Caleb to disappoint against Matt Eberflus. If Eberflus gets the last laugh, that could be detrimental to this locker room and this team’s’ hopes for a good season. Not only that but also the fact that it would be an 0-3 start for the Bears. This is a must-win game for the Chicago Bears and all eyes are on Caleb to rise to the occasion. The pressure has been on Williams since he has been in the NFl. I think Caleb will continue to get better and silence the doubters by out dueling Dak Prescott this weekend. Getting a victory against Matt Eberflus would be huge for Caleb WIlliams’ confidence”.

Caleb Williams did it. He showed Eberflus that last year’s problems were mostly due to the Bears’ former coach. It was hard to imagine a better Caleb Williams performance. Everything went Caleb and Ben Johnson’s way against Matt Eberflus’ defense.
