MSU head coach Tom Izzo provides positive injury update on forward Kaleb Glenn

Michigan State head coach Tom Izzo provided a positive injury update on a key transfer addition following the Spartans’ first practice of the 2025-26 season.

Izzo met with the media on Monday afternoon and shared a positive injury update on new Spartans transfer wing Kaleb Glenn, who is recovering from a torn patellar tendon suffered during the offseason. The injury occurred in June, but Izzo was happy to share on Monday that Glenn has “recovered faster than any human being I’ve ever seen.”

Glenn was previously ruled out for the season shortly after the injury occurred, and per a post from Chris Solari of The Detroit Free Press, it “appears” that he’ll still miss the entire 2025-26 season. But, this update at least provides a glimmer of hope that Glenn could return late in the year should he want to burn his redshirt and join the team for a late-season push. I would say that is unlikely — and Izzo may not even let Glenn risk coming back too soon — but it’s overall great to hear he is making this kind of progress so soon. This at a minimum bodes well for Glenn’s future and potential impact he can have at Michigan State beyond this season.

Glenn transferred to Michigan State from Florida Atlantic in the spring. He averaged 12.6 points per game with the Owls last year, and was expected to be a key reserve for Michigan State this season.

Michigan State will play its first exhibition game of the 2025-26 season on October 23 against Bowling Green. The Spartans will officially open the season on November 3 against Colgate.
