Carlos Ulberg, Dominick Reyes react to report of struggling UFC Perth ticket sales

UFC Fight Night 260 headliners Carlos Ulberg and Dominick Reyes are unfazed by reports of their event struggling to sell.

Ulberg (12-1 MMA, 8-1 UFC) meets Reyes (15-4 MMA, 9-4 UFC) in a potential No. 1 contender bout at light heavyweight Saturday from RAC Arena in Perth, Australia (ESPN+).

A broadcast report from 7 News Australia claimed that ticket sales were so poor that they wound up being discounted. UFC exec Dave Shaw does not see an issue, and neither do the Ulberg and Reyes. Ulberg theorized why ticket sales may have been affected, and responded on whether he takes it personally.

“Not at all, I think you’re competing with the AFL grand finals as well so, that’s a big thing and here in Perth, they follow it religiously,” Ulberg said during Friday’s pre-fight press conference. “That’s something we’re definitely competing with, but it’s massive on it’s own as you can see right now.

“So yeah, every time we fight here in Perth or when I’ve witnessed fights here in Perth, it’s always been electric, it’s always been massive, and when the day comes, it’s all going to happen, it’s going to come together.”

Reyes responded by trying to sell the fight itself.

“I mean if you don’t want to see a badass fight, you’re going to miss it,” Reyes said. “So, you guys better get your tickets and get ready to watch the show.”
