Ravens QB Lamar Jackson Has Chance Make NFL History Against Chiefs

Lamar Jackson is no stranger to being among football’s elite. After all, before he was the starting quarterback for the Baltimore Ravens, he was a Heisman Trophy winner for the Louisville Cardinals – and he was even the youngest player to ever win the award.

But now, Jackson has the opportunity to join very rarified air among NFL quarterbacks if he can parley his early-season momentum into another big performance this Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs. Jackson went 21-for-27 (77.8 completion percentage) for 288 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions last week, giving him a passer rating of 148.1 this season. He has managed to throw at least two touchdowns and zero interceptions and record a passer rating of 125-or-higher in all three games.

This week, if he can manage two touchdown passes, no interceptions, and a passer rating of 125-or-higher once more, he’ll become the first player in NFL history to achieve that stat line across four consecutive games to open the season. Furthermore, if he can manage just two touchdowns and a passer rating of 90-or-higher against the Chiefs, he’ll be just the fifth quarterback in league history to do so across 12 consecutive games – joining a list that includes just Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Philip Rivers, and Aaron Rodgers.

Through his three game this season, Jackson holds a passer rating of 141.8, which allows him to join one more unique list this weekend – he can become just the fourth quarterback in NFL history (and the first in 52 years) to hold a passer rating of 140-or-higher through his team’s opening four games of the year while taking a minimum of 50 pass attempts. Others on that list include Browns’ quarterback Milt Plum, Rams’ quarterback John Hadl, and Cowboys’ quarterback Craig Morton.
